Description
A beautiful and elegant garden and cut flower in white with gorgeous edges in cerise.

In addition to its enchanting flowers, Picotee also has beautiful fern-like foliage.

The variety is tall and has long stems that are perfect for cutting.

It's an incredibly decorative variety to have in bouquets either on its own or mixed with other summer flowers. Cosmos is incredibly popular with all our pollinators and is the ultimate attraction to the vegetable garden or other crops.

As Cosmos are tall-growing, they are incredibly beautiful to co-plant with, for example, beans, brassicas, and artichokes. Picotee is a lovely little variety of Cosmos with lots of charm and a summer favorite that is hard to be without!

Care and cultivation advice

Pre-grow indoors in seed soil in March-April, preferably cover the sowing with transparent covering with air holes. Once the seeds have germinated, keep the sowing cool and as bright as possible for best results. To encourage the Rose Mallow to produce many magnificent flowers, the plants need to be topped. This is done to stimulate the plant to produce more side shoots, which means more buds and flowers. A tip from us is to top/cut it just above the second or third leaf pair.

Transplant the plants when they have been properly hardened off and the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny location for the best blooming, but the variety can also grow in partial shade. The Rose Mallow thrives best in rich, sandy soil with not too much nutrition. If it gets too much nutrition, it develops a lot of foliage but unfortunately very few flowers.

(This variety can also be directly sown on the planting site when the soil has warmed up and can be used, but will have a slightly later blooming.)

Can also be sown in the fall for bloom the following year. Sow directly in the soil before the frost comes.
