Make a bulb lasagna step-by-step:

Before the bulbs go into the soil, start by placing a layer of clay pebbles at the bottom of the pot to create good drainage. This prevents the bulbs from rotting due to excess water from, for example, heavy rain or melting snow. (Make sure to use a frost-proof pot if it will be placed outdoors!)

Next, add a thicker layer of potting soil, about 10 cm deep.

Begin by placing the tulip bulbs at the very bottom, with the pointed end facing upwards. (Make sure the bulbs do not touch each other, as this increases the risk of rot!)

Cover the tulip bulbs with a new layer of soil, then plant the daffodils a few centimeters apart. The spacing is important, as it gives the lower bulbs room to grow upwards when they start to sprout. Then cover the daffodils with another layer of soil.

Finally, plant the hyacinths, also leaving a few centimeters between each bulb. Cover with the final layer of soil and gently press it down. If you like, add a layer of leaves on top to give the bulbs extra protection.

Water the bulb lasagna gently and place the pot in a sheltered spot in the garden for its winter rest. That’s it! When spring arrives and temperatures slowly start to rise, beautiful spring flowers will bloom in succession, creating a magical display.
