Description

Cosmos ‘Double Click Cranberries’ is an elegant and vibrant summer flower with that little something extra when it comes to colour and form.

This variety belongs to the popular Double Click series and is distinguished by its large, fully double blooms in deep cranberry-red shades that shimmer beautifully in sunlight.

The plant has fine, feathery foliage and an airy growth habit that gives a light and romantic impression in the flower bed.‘Double Click Cranberries’ is easy to grow, resilient, and highly valued as a cut flower thanks to its sturdy stems and long vase life.

A versatile variety that performs equally well in borders as it does in cut flower production.

Care and cultivation advice

Propagate indoors in seed soil in March-April, preferably cover the seed with a transparent cover with air holes. Once the seeds have germinated, the seedlings should be stored in a cool, bright place for best results. In order for the rose cress to have many fabulous flowers, the plants need to be topped. This is done to stimulate the plant to produce more side shoots, which means more buds and flowers. A tip from us is to top/cut it just at the second or third pair of leaves.

Plant out the seedlings when they have hardened off properly and the risk of frost is over. Choose a sunny position, as this is when it flowers most, but the variety can also grow in partial shade. Rosebay thrives best in rich, sandy soil without too much nutrients. If it gets too much nutrition, it develops a lot of foliage but unfortunately very few flowers.

Can also be sown in the fall for flowering next year. Sow directly into the soil before the frost comes.

(The variety can also be sown directly on the site once the soil has warmed up and can be cultivated, but will then flower slightly later).
