The summer larkspur ‘Fancy Belladonna’ is an elegant and colorful variety that adds height, movement, and lightness to summer flower beds.

The long, slender stems carry masses of single blooms in soft violet shades that open gradually, creating a long and beautiful flowering period.

The color is bright yet gentle, shifting beautifully in the light and ensuring the plant always catches the eye in the garden.Fancy Belladonna is an annual variety but readily self-seeds, often returning year after year where it has once thrived.

With its graceful stems and cool tones, it also makes a wonderful cut flower that lasts beautifully in a vase.

Care and cultivation advice

Propagated indoors in seed soil January-April. Make sure to moisten the soil before sowing and cover with a thin layer of soil. Then cover the seed with a transparent cover with air holes for best germination results. After germination, the seed should be placed in a cool place with as much light as possible.

The plants are then planted out once they have hardened off properly and the risk of frost has passed. Larkspur thrives best in a sunny spot in moisture-retaining and nutrient-rich soil.

This variety can also be sown directly on the site when the soil is warmed up and ready for use. Make sure to water the soil well before sowing and keep it moist throughout the germination period. The variety can also be sown outdoors in the fall for earlier flowering the following year.
