Description
The charming 'Pink Thai Egg' tomato variety is a lovely, egg-shaped tomato with a beautiful, shiny pink skin.

The variety originated in Thailand and became popular in 1950.

It is known for its productivity and for its resistance to cracking.

Something that tomatoes often get due to uneven irrigation or large temperature differences. A fantastic tomato that goes particularly well in salads thanks to its characteristics in color, shape and taste! (This variety needs to be thawed to maximize the harvest of tomatoes).

Care and cultivation advice

Propagate indoors in smaller pots February-April. Fill the pots with 2/3 potting soil or vegetable soil and top with 1/3 sowing soil. Try to keep the seed around 22-25 degrees until the seeds have germinated and then 18-20 degrees. Then make sure to keep the seed in as much light as possible and to water it carefully.

When the roots emerge from the bottom of the seed pot, it is time to transplant the seedling to a slightly larger pot, this is called transplanting. A tip is to top the seedlings once during indoor cultivation for a bushier look, then the seedlings will not be as “lanky” either.

The tomato plants are planted out after being thoroughly hardened off when the risk of frost is over and the night temperature is not below 8 degrees. This variety needs tying up and tethering to produce as many tomatoes as possible.

Remember to shake the tomato plant every now and then so that the cute little yellow flowers are pollinated and deliver more tomatoes. Tomatoes also like to be tended to, so giving the plants some plant food once a week will increase their chances of a bountiful harvest. Use nutrients rich in phosphorus and potassium, but avoid nutrients containing too much nitrogen as this can give the tomatoes a bad taste.
