Description
A classic summer variety with beautiful scarlet red flowers.

The well-known "old garden flower" or "cottage flower" as it is often called in Swedish, is a very easy to grow and reliable variety.

The gorgeous red flowers bloom from June to August and can be found in gardens all over the world. The red corn poppy is also a well-known symbol for people who have fallen in wars, especially in England where the beautiful summer flower now symbolizes remembrance and hope for the future. This variety is very nice to plant together with other summer flowers such as blue cornflower, cosmos, and sweet peas.

Corn poppy is also a perfect attractor for the kitchen garden or other plantings since it is a summer flower that is incredibly popular among our pollinators.

Care and cultivation advice

Sow directly on the planting site when the soil has been warmed up and is workable. Be sure to water the soil before sowing and keep the soil moist throughout the germination period.

Corn poppy can also be sown in the autumn for earlier flowering. The variety thrives best in calcareous and well-drained soil. It can also grow in more nutrient-poor soils, but may not be as robust and lush.
