Description
An absolutely incredible and organic tomato variety with that little extra when it comes to color, shape, and flavor.

The variety is tall-growing and produces lots of small golden-orange plum-shaped tomatoes that hang in decorative clusters.

Ormato produces an abundance of tomatoes throughout the season and has a flavor that truly stands out.

The sweetness and crispiness make this variety the ultimate snack tomato, as it is absolutely delightful to eat just as it is.

It is also unbeatable in salads but also in sauces, stews, and various types of soups. Floreas' creative director Anders Espinoza warmly recommends making a summer Gazpacho as an appetizer with the Ormato variety.

"Just don't forget to top it with some nasturtium flowers" – Anders cheerfully says.

Care and cultivation advice

Start by sowing indoors in smaller pots from February to April. Fill the pots with 2/3 potting soil or vegetable soil and top with 1/3 seed soil. Try to keep the sowing around 22-25 degrees Celsius until the seeds have germinated, then reduce the temperature to 18-20 degrees. Make sure to store the sowing in a bright spot and water it carefully.

When the roots start to appear at the bottom of the seed pot, it’s time to transplant the plant into a slightly larger pot, this is called re-potting. A tip is to top the plants once during indoor cultivation for a bushier appearance, which will also prevent the plants from becoming too “rangy”.

The tomato plants should be planted outdoors after they have been hardened off properly, and when the risk of frost is over and the night temperature does not drop below 8 degrees Celsius. This variety needs to be tied up and pruned to produce as many tomatoes as possible.

Remember to shake the tomato plants from time to time so that the sweet little yellow flowers are pollinated and deliver more tomatoes. Tomatoes also like to be pampered, so giving the plants some plant food once a week increases the plant’s chances of a plentiful harvest. Use fertilizer that is rich in phosphorus and potassium but avoid fertilizer that contains too much nitrogen as it can give the tomatoes a bad taste.
