Description
A popular and fast-growing cucumber variety that produces abundant harvests of medium-sized cucumbers with a good and appealing taste.

The variety is a predecessor to many of today's more refined cucumbers, which makes it highly talked about in common parlance.

Marketmore is robust and fast-growing, and produces abundant harvests throughout the season.

The cucumber variety is especially popular because it can develop even in slightly colder climates and has high disease resistance. Marketmore is excellent for salads, as a sandwich topping, or for various types of pickling.

Something we at Florea highly recommend for this variety is cheese gratin cucumber.

All you need is:
  • 600g of Marketmore cucumbers
  • 200g of white cheese (a whole piece)
  • 1 pressed clove of garlic
  • A little rocket/arugula to top with
Cut the cucumbers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds.

Then mash the white cheese and mix it with crème fraîche and garlic.

Then spread the creamy mixture on the cucumber.

Cut the cucumber into 4-5 cm long pieces and place them on a greased sheet or in an ovenproof dish.

Bake in the middle of the oven at 200°C for about 20 minutes.

Perfect to eat as is or serve with fried meat, fish, or vegetables of various kinds.

Care and cultivation advice

Start by sowing indoors in potting soil or vegetable soil, making sure to cover with transparent covering with air holes or use a mini greenhouse for the best results. Planting one seed per small pot is the easiest, but it's also possible to sow multiple seeds in a larger pot and then transplant them once they've grown a bit to one plant per pot.

Make sure to water the soil thoroughly before planting. Place the seeds in about 25 degrees Celsius before germination and around 16-20 degrees Celsius after germination. After germination, the plants also need to be placed in a bright spot, preferably in a sunny window or under grow lights.

The plants benefit from being transplanted once during indoor cultivation. This means that when the roots appear on the underside of the pot, it's time to move the plant to a slightly larger pot.

The plants can be transplanted after hardening off and when the risk of frost is over and the nighttime temperature does not drop below +8 degrees Celsius. Plant the seedlings where the roots have plenty of room to grow, such as in a raised bed, greenhouse bench, or 10-liter pot. Choose a sunny outdoor location such as a protected patio or a greenhouse for best results. Also, keep in mind that this variety needs support to grow and thrive!
