Description
An exciting herb seasoning similar to chives but with a light and fresh garlic flavor.

Fantastic in cooking, as a topping or in salads.

Unlike the classic chives, Chinese chives have flatter and coarser leaves.

The taste is very similar to the classic chives but leans more towards garlic.

The variety produces white fairy-tale-like flowers that work great as a lure for all our pollinators.

Besides being beautiful to behold, the flowers are also edible and taste great on sandwiches, in salads, or as a garnish.

Imagine a summer toast Skagen topped with white flowers from Chinese chives, magical! Chinese chives are also a nutritious herb that is incredibly rich in many minerals such as iodine, iron, and calcium.

It also contains vitamins A and C, as well as a relatively high fiber content. This variety is also organic and works great for hydroponics year-round with the help of some plant lighting.

Care and cultivation advice

Pre cultivate indoors from March to April. Make sure the soil remains moist throughout the germination period and that the sowing is placed in a bright and cool location. Sow closely together in planting soil or vegetable soil.

Planting out should be done when the risk of frost is over and the plants have been sufficiently hardened off. The variety thrives in both sun and shade. It grows best in loose, nutrient-rich soil, but can grow in most soils, including heavy clay.

The variety can also be sown directly in the planting site as soon as the soil has warmed up, up until August. Winter cover the plants in their first year for increased protection against the winter.

(Keep in mind that the variety self-seeds vigorously and that an older chive clump benefits from being divided and replanted after approximately 5 years!)
