Description

Sweet Pea ‘Old Times’ is a timeless variety with an old-fashioned charm.

The flowers are creamy white with a soft blue-violet hue and delicate lavender veining.

These subtle colour shifts give the blooms a gentle, almost antique appearance reminiscent of traditional English cottage gardens.

The fragrance is rich and sweet, spreading easily through the garden and in bouquets.

This variety is easy to grow and flowers abundantly all summer, producing long, sturdy stems that make it excellent for cutting.

Care and cultivation advice

Propagate indoors in seed soil March-May. Try to keep the seedlings at 18-20 degrees before germination and after germination cool and as bright as possible. Handle the plants very carefully when transplanting as they are fragile.

Planting out is done when the plants have hardened off properly and the risk of frost is over. The plants are topped at 8-10 cm for a more bushy appearance. The variety thrives best in deep, well-drained and rich soil. Feel free to mix in brown cow manure and compost. Grows and thrives best in a sunny and sheltered spot.

The variety can also be sown directly on the site once the soil has warmed up and is ready for cultivation.

(Keep in mind that the variety needs plant support such as a trellis or a wall and for longer flowering, the plant needs to be weeded a little at a time).
