Swedish Sugar Snap Pea - Lokförare Bergfälts Jätteärt
Seed·Pisum sativum
- Out of stock
Description
A unique Sugar Snap Pea with roots in Dalarna, preserved for generations since the beginning of the 20th century. The variety is named after the locomotive driver Bergfält, who once shared the seeds with a train dispatcher and in this way this fantastic pea was saved from oblivion.
This is a tall variety that can grow over two meters, with a bushy growth habit and beautiful light purple flowers. The pods are very large, often over 10 cm long and unusually wide, with a sweet and mild taste. They are best eaten tender and fresh, but also work well for stir-frying or freezing.
Lokförare Bergfälts Jätteärt is not only a productive and tasty sweet pea, it also carries a living history. A hardy, easy-to-grow variety for those who want to grow large sweet peas with fantastic taste.
