Description
Brussels Sprouts Roodnerf is one of the oldest preserved heirloom varieties within Brussels sprouts.

The variety originates from Hurst in England and is primarily known for its high-quality taste and incredible attributes.

Roodnerf produces medium-height plants that are relatively cold-resistant but can endure even longer with the help of a rowcover. We at Florea suggest sautéing Brussels sprouts with honey and a bit of lemon or making a Brussels sprout soup with Parmesan, yum!

Care and cultivation advice

Pre-cultivated indoors March-May in seed soil. Cover the seed with transparent cover provided with air holes for best germination results, but it also works without. Just like all young plants, this variety need to be protected from strong spring sun. So let the plant stand for shorter periods in the sun for the first few days so that it can acclimatize! We recommend using cabbage netting to protect cabbage larvae.

The variety can also be sown directly when the soil is properly warmed up. Topping in August helps the last cabbage heads to develop. Brussels spruts can be harvested from September to July.
