Care and cultivation advice

Sow directly in the growing area when the soil is usable. Thrives in most soils but varieties thrive best in loamy, fertile soil. Sow thinly in wide furrows. Be sure to water well before and keep the soil moist throughout the growing period. A tip is to thin to 5 cm and use the thinned plants for salads or cooking.

It is beneficial to sow in rounds for availability of harvest throughout the season but keep in mind to make a break in July when the plant easily goes to seed during that period.

The leaves are harvested as needed and the variety can also be sown in the fall for early spring harvest.
