Sweet Sultan ‘The Bride’ is a beautiful variety with large, softly shaped flowers in gentle white with a hint of cream.

The thin, silky petals give the blooms a light and almost cotton-like appearance.

The flowers grow on long, sturdy stems, making this variety wonderful for cutting.It is very free-flowering and rewarding to grow.

‘The Bride’ carries a mild, sweet fragrance that attracts bees and butterflies to the borders and serves as an excellent pollinator plant in the kitchen garden.

A lovely tip is to pair it with kale, a surprisingly beautiful combination.

Care and cultivation advice

(Fragrant flax can be propagated indoors in spring, direct seeded when the soil warms up, or fall seeded directly on the site.)

Indoor propagation:

Sow the seeds in moist seed soil during March-April. Cover with a thin layer of soil and/or vermiculite. The seeds germinate best at around 15°C. After germination, place the seedlings in a bright and cool place. When the risk of frost has passed, gradually harden off the seedlings before planting out.

Direct sowing outdoors:

Sow directly on the site once the soil has warmed up and the risk of frost has passed. Water the soil before sowing and keep moist during the germination period. The variety can also be direct sown in the fall for earlier flowering the next season.
