Description

Lisianthus ‘Rosita Apricot’ is a graceful flower admired for its rose-tinted apricot blooms with a soft, velvety sheen.

The variety belongs to the well-known Rosita series, appreciated for its strong stems, uniform plants and exceptional longevity, qualities that have made it a favourite among cut flower growers. The blooms sit closely on sturdy stems and open slowly into perfectly shaped bell-like flowers that remain beautiful for a long time, both in the garden and as cut flowers.

The colour shifts gently between warm apricot, blush pink and soft peach, creating a delicate and refined appearance.(Growing lisianthus requires a little extra care and patience, but the reward is worth it.

When the plants thrive, they flower generously and transform the garden into something truly special, a floral experience beyond the ordinary.)

Care and cultivation advice

(Prairie bell can be pre-cultivated indoors early in the season, but requires patience and preferably a greenhouse to develop optimally).

Indoor propagation: Sow the seeds 12-13 weeks before planting out, between January and March. The seeds are light-growing - press them lightly against the soil surface and possibly cover with a thin layer of vermiculite to retain moisture. Keep the seed evenly moist and place at a temperature just above 21°C until germination occurs. Prairie bell is sensitive to acidic soil - use a well-drained soil with a high organic matter content.

Replant carefully in small pots when the seedlings are manageable. When they reach a height of about 30 cm, replant them again. Be careful with the roots - prairie bell does not like to be root bound. Support the plants with a net, for example, and place them in a greenhouse environment for best results.
