Description

The scabious ‘Drumstick’ is a charming and slightly unusual flower that has become very popular for use in bouquets.

The small, pale yellow blooms are gathered into round heads that gradually develop into beautiful, bronze-colored seed heads with an almost sculptural form.

They stand tall on slender stems that sway gently in the breeze, giving the border a light and airy look.Drumstick is often grown as an everlasting flower thanks to its durable, geometric seed heads that retain their shape and color when dried.

They are just as beautiful in fresh bouquets as in dried arrangements and are perfect for anyone who loves creating something simple yet striking.

The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, bringing life and movement to the garden well into late summer.

Care and cultivation advice

(This variety can be propagated indoors, but can also be sown directly on the site once the soil has warmed up or in the fall).

Propagation: Sow the seeds in potting soil, one seed per pot. Starwort is light-growing and the seeds should therefore not be covered with soil - just press them lightly against the surface. Place the seedlings in a bright spot and keep the soil evenly moist. Replant when the roots start to look out from under the pot. Plant out after the plants have hardened off properly and the risk of frost is over.

Direct sowing: Sow directly on the site when the soil has warmed up, April-June. Water the soil before sowing and keep the seed moist until the plants have emerged. Also suitable for sowing in the fall for earlier flowering next season.
