Description
An amazing berry with a captivating growth pattern.

The variety features velvety green leaves and sweet, small, yellow trumpet-like flowers with a black crown near the center.

Physalis produces juicy, small orange-yellow fruits with a protective husk that changes color during the ripening process.

Initially green, they eventually reach a yellow-beige hue when mature and ready to be harvested. The berries are magical to eat on their own but also perfect as garnishes for desserts and pastries.

We at Florea would like to suggest making a delicious cheesecake with amarula and physalis jelly.

A fabulous and summery dessert both in appearance and taste!

Care and cultivation advice

Pre-cultivated indoors in sowing soil February-March. Moisten the soil properly before sowing. The seeds are light-germinating, so only press the seeds gently on the soil surface and make sure that the soil is kept moist through the germination period. After the seeds have germinated, the seeds want to stand in very bright light, in darker areas, plant lightning may be needed. If the roots are visible under the bottom of the pot, it is time to replant the plants into larger pots with a little more nutritious soil.

Physalis can be planted out when the risk of frost is over. Just like all young plants, this variety need to be protected from strong spring sun. So let the plant stand for shorter periods in the sun for the first few days so that it can acclimatize!

The variety grows well in both sun and partial shade. Physalis is biennial and can be brought in before the first frost. We recommend pruning it before you take it inside, if the plants are very big. Physalis needs to be kept bright and cool at a temperature of around 10-15 degrees to survive the winter.
