Description
A specially developed variety to be grown directly in the open field, unlike most other watermelon varieties that require a greenhouse, a glassed-in balcony or greenhouse, for example.

Tigrimini can therefore cope in a sheltered location but outdoors even in a Nordic climate, fantastic, isn't it? The variety has slightly smaller melons but with explosive sweetness and taste.

Fantastic to eat directly as it is or to use in a summer salads that need to be spiced up.

Our garden expert Johanna Damm usually makes a starter of Tigrimini by dicing it into small cubes, crumbling Chevré cheese and then drizzling some creamy balsamic over it.

Last of all, she adds a little salt and pepper.

Simple, decorative and incredibly tasty!

Care and cultivation advice

Pre-cultivate indoors in planting soil in February-April, one seed per pot. Cover the seed with transparent cover provided with air holes for best germination results, but it also works without. After the seeds have germinated, the plants like to stand very bright, in darker places, plant lighting may need to be used. Give the plants something to climb on when they are indoors to prevent them from tangling with each other. If the roots are visible at the bottom of the pot, the plants need to be re-plant into larger pots in order to continue growing.

The watermelon plants can be planted out when the risk of frost is over. Just like all young plants, this variety need to be protected from strong spring sun. So let the plant stand for shorter periods in the sun for the first few days so that it can acclimatize! This variety has can be grown outdoors and therefore does not need to be planted in a greenhouse. Watermelon wants a sunny and sheltered place and grows best in nutrient-rich soil where it can spread out wile growing.
